Government
should focus its budgets more on environmental protection than on economic
development.
Discussing about whether the emphasis of the government should be put
on developing the local economy or protecting the environment, some argue that a good economy
of a country will make it be strong. Their view sounds to be plausible because
the important role of economy to a nation cannot be neglected. However, as far
as I am concerned, the advantages of a good environment overweigh those of a
advanced economy. Therefore, I agree with the view that the emphasis should be
put on environment.
The first and the most important reason is that by protecting the
environment a nation will alleviate/ease the damages of ecological imbalance
effectively and efficiently. The traditional
view, that economy plays the most priority role in a nation life and we should
develop it at any cost, including our environment, has caused great havoc on
our environment. To acquire more space, human beings have deforested to a great
extent, which caused a series of environmental problems like acid rain,
desertification, and sand storm. As a result, we have been suffered greatly
from the relevant problems caused by air pollutions, which triggered the
breaking out of many fatal diseases like lung cancers. Furthermore, to obtain
more fuels to support our industry, human being have depleted the resources
like gasoline and coal all over the world, which almost has caused the
exhaustion of the fossil fuel worldwide. On the contrary, by adopting measures
to protect environment, the government will be able to solve the already
existed environmental problems like pollution and our offspring will have a
good environment from us.
